Riverside Christian Middle School
Riverside Christian Middle School is dedicated to the vision of effectively encouraging and empowering students to strive for spiritual and academic excellence in the development of their education. Riverside Christian Middle School seeks to acknowledge the Lord by promoting a strong academic environment in which the light of God’s Word shines in all learning, where students are treated as persons who bear God’s image and have a place in His plan.
Course Offerings
Sixth Grade – Sixth grade students move throughout the day as homeroom groups. Their classes are all held in the three sixth grade classrooms with student interaction only between their grade level. (Exception: electives) Sixth grade classes include Bible, Language Arts, Science, Pre-Algebra* or Basic Math*, History, Physical Education, and an elective (Choir, Band, Drama, Art, Computer, Mission Opportunities, or to be determined)

Spanish I (8th grade only)
*Mathematics placement 6th grade is determined by testing during the 4th quarter of the 5th grade year or by the entrance testing for new students for 7th or 8th grades. Students enrolled in Algebra I A/B in the 7th grade are given the opportunity to take 9th grade Algebra I C/D in their 8th grade year. This allows the student to take 5 years of college preparatory mathematics prior to the beginning of his college career.

WASC/ACSI Accreditation
Riverside Christian is accredited by both the Western Association of School and Colleges (WASC) and American Christian Schools International (ACSI). Schools accredited by WASC are recognized by all colleges and universities nationwide. School accredited by ACSI have been proven to maintain the high standards required by this association.
Chapel
Chapel services are held once a week in which the students are given the opportunity to hear messages given by local pastors, RCMS teachers, and RCMS administrators. Several times each semester, traveling music groups from Christian colleges present inspiring programs. The majority of the chapels are student-lead with an active chapel committee overseeing all that is presented.
Sports
Riverside Christian Middle School has one of the finest interscholastic sports programs in the county. Included in the list of league-leading teams are football, volleyball, girls and boys basketball, softball, baseball, soccer, cross-country, track and field, and cheerleading. RCMS is a member of the Mountain Valley League which includes other nearby Christian schools. RCMS has earned the following championships: Softball – 2006, 2010; Baseball – 2006; Football – 2008, 2009, 2011; Boys Basketball – 2008; Track and Field – 2011. Our Cheerleading Team has been named 2010 West Coast Champions by the Fellowship of Christian Cheerleaders.
Spiritual Emphasis Week
Two of the highlights of each year at RCMS are the Winter and Spring Spiritual Emphasis Weeks. During these weeks, special chapels are held and team building activities are emphasized. A mission is selected and the students are urged to earn funds to contribute to the mission.
Extra-curricular Activities
Extra-curricular activities include many opportunities for a student to develop their leadership abilities. An elected Associated Student Body (ASB) plans many activities for a time of fun and fellowship during the school year. It is the duty of the ASB to plan social functions for the student body during the school year. The choir, drama, mission opportunities, band classes present evening and chapel performances throughout the school year. The Drama Club annually presents a full musical performance.
ACSI Academic Contests
Riverside Christian Middle School participates in various ACSI academic contests during the school year. Competition is held between the various Christian schools in the area of mathematics, spelling, and speech.
Washington, D.C. Trip
In the month of May, the eighth grade students are given the opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C. A Jog-a-Thon is held to help each student fund their individual trip. The six-day trip is planned by Christian Discoveries, a tour group which specializes in Christ-centered history trips. Parents are also invited to attend.
