Extra-Curricular Activities
Extra-curricular activities include many opportunities for a student to develop their leadership abilities.
An elected Associated Student Body (ASB) plans many activities for a time of fun and fellowship during the school year. It is the duty of the ASB to plan social functions for the student body during the school year.
RCMS has an active National Junior High Honor Society in which students selected by the faculty are involved in service projects.
The Math Tutoring Club allows peer to peer help in the area of mathematics.
The drama, speech, band, and choir classes present evening and chapel performances throughout the school year.
The After School Drama Club annually presents a full musical performance.
RCMS also takes part in PRYDE, a program sponsored by the local Rotary Club in which students are selected to receive training in leadership skills.
RCMS participates in the following ACSI Academic Contests: Choral Festival, Spelling Bee, Math Olympics’, and Speech Meet.
Athletics
Riverside Christian Middle School has one of the finest interscholastic sports programs in the county. Included in the list of league-leading teams are football, volleyball, girls and boys basketball, softball, baseball, soccer, cross-country, track and field, and cheerleading. RCMS is a member of the Mountain Valley League which includes other nearby Christian schools. RCMS girls softball and boys basketball teams of 2006 were named Mountain Valley League Champions. In 2008, the RCMS football team was Mountain Valley Christian League Champions.
Washington, D.C. Trip
In the month of May, the eighth grade students are given the opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C. A Jog-a-Thon is held to help each student fund their individual trip. The six-day trip is planned by Christian Discoveries, a tour group which specializes in Christ-centered history trips. Parents are also invited to attend.
