KID-AMSE

Applied Math, Science, and Engineering
In an effort to capture the minds of our students at early ages and encourage their continued involvement in our Secondary School AMSE (Applied Mathematics, Science, and Engineering) programs, we are excited to offer the following opportunities to our elementary school students.

Pre-engineering and engineering classes with Play-Well Tek-nologies for kindergarten through fifth grade.  Play-Well Tek-nologies has designed their LEGO® programs to teach principles and methods of engineering, to encourage students to work through design challenges using what they have learned, and to allow students to work at their optimal pace.  When they have satisfied basic requirements of a project they are encouraged to further explore applications of the principle and construction methods by inspecting, testing, modifying, and rebuilding.

A school science fair annually to provide an opportunity for our fifth grade students.  Our goal is to allow our students to apply creativity and critical thought to the solution of science, engineering and mathematics problems beyond the confines of the classroom and to publicly recognize the achievements of talented science, mathematics and engineering students.  The winners of our school science fair represent RCS at the district level science fair.

El Camino Pines Science Camp for our fifth grade students.  El Camino Pines Science Camp is a three, four, or five-day residential program that emphasizes environmental education and community-building experiences to elementary students. Our classes cover several disciplines in the areas of natural, physical, and social sciences. These courses are taught by qualified, caring staff in a safe, supervised environment. Students enjoy learning in a beautiful outdoor setting while growing together in community.
